Erectile dysfunction, or ED, is a common problem for men suffering from morbid obesity. Fortunately, there’s new evidence indicating that losing weight helps resolve ED in obese men. Researchers in two major Northeastern cities gave a scientifically-designed sexual function survey to a group of obese male patients before and after the men underwent gastric bypass surgery for weight loss. After comparing the answers, the researchers noted an increase in the men’s reported sexual drive, easier arousal and improved sexual satisfaction – the more weight each man lost after surgery, the more his sexual functions improved.

The findings indicate that weight loss surgery is an effective tool for combating ED, along with numerous other obesity-related health problems, and that addressing “performance” issues may be an important part of pre- and post-operative support for male patients.
