Distal Gastric Bypass
Distal Gastric Bypass Roux en Y procedures create a stapled or divided small gastric pouch, leaving the remainder of the stomach in place. The pouch is connected directly to a lower portion of the small intestine, bypassing the duodenum and some of the jejunum. The difference between a proximal and distal gastric bypass has to do with the length of the roux limb that connects the stomach pouch to the small intestine.
