Ethicon Endo-Surgery has expanded its online support program designed to keep weight loss surgery patients informed and motivated.
The interactive REALIZE my SUCCESS program focuses on the first three years after a patient’s weight loss surgery. It began as a program for patients using Ethicon’s REALIZE band and now has been expanded to help both gastric bypass and gastric sleeve patients.
The program offers details about the five-phase diet patients require right after bariatric surgery; input about good eating and hydration habits; personalized tips on meal planning and calorie consumption; facts about nutritional supplements; and help with motivation and goal-setting. The program also lets healthcare professionals check the progress of their patients.
Nearly 15,000 bariatric patients have joined the program since its debut in January 2008. Statistics show that patients who stick with the REALIZE my SUCCESS program lose more weight during their first year after surgery than those who don’t.

I AM INTERESTED IN GASTRIC BAND SURGERY. I HAVE NOT HAD IT DONE YET BUT IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE WHO WILL CONFER WITH ME PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME. I HAVE MY CONCERNS BUT THE GASTRIC BAND SEEMS TO BE ALOT SAFER THEN BYPASS OR SLEEVE GASTERECTOMY. I NEED SOME INPUT, SOME SUCCESS STORIES AND WHAT YOU DID FIRST, BEFORE SURGERY AND AFTER SURGERY. I NEED SOME ENCOURAGEMENT TO GET STARTED HERE. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME. THANK YOU

I had a band done October 2009. I lost about 40 lbs. I never could find the right adjustment. I had multiple appointments add fluid, take it out…every few weeks. Finally the band slipped about 2 months ago. I was unable to keep anything down. I ended up having the band removed and had a gastric sleeve done. I have lost 20 lbs since the sleeve was done a month ago. I have not had any issues with food getting stuck. It is nice not to have to deal with the adjustments all the time. Only 4% of patients have the band slip. Guess I was just lucky. Good luck!
