Weight Loss Surgery Conference Focuses on Education, Renewal

The Annual Seattle Bash and Weight Loss Surgery Conference, known as the Seattle Bash, is coming up March 11th-14th at the SeaTac Marriott Hotel in Seattle, Washington.

Now in its seventh year, the event attracts hundreds of pre- and post-op bariatric patients, doctors and other medical professionals from all across the country for motivation, education, and entertainment.

Sponsored and run by a group of dedicated weight loss surgery patients who formed a non-profit for the event, the 2010 conference will place special emphasis on how weight loss surgery resolves diabetes, new opportunities with gastric banding, and the latest options in revision surgery.

The event will feature panel discussions, break-out sessions, and presentations by weight loss surgeons, psychologists, and other health care professionals from all over the United States and Mexico highlighting the latest research related to bariatric treatment options.

Also featured at the conference will be motivational lectures by psychotherapist Mary Jo Rapini, who many know from TLC’s show Big Medicine; Katie Jay, the founder of the National Association for Weight Loss Surgery; motivational speaker Louise Pietrafesa; and our own Chef Dave, star of Eating Right Every Bite, here on the Weight Loss Surgery Channel.

For those on the East Coast, the Lighten Up Expo is this weekend, February 27th, in Atlanta, Georgia.  Featured guests include Celio Burrows from the Georgia Center for Bariatric Surgery, Chef Dave Fouts, and organizer Charlie Brown, who will be speaking about Love, Sex and Weight-Loss.

And if you can’t make either event? Mark your calendar now for Obesity Help’s spring conference in Southern California on May 21st and 22nd.
